SingersBabel 4.0

SingersBabel™ provides a comprehensive set of resources designed to assist singers in understanding the meaning and pronunciation of lyrics in various foreign languages, particularly in the context of art songs, cantatas, oratorios, and choral compositions.

The BabelGuides™ feature MP4 videos wherein a native speaker and expert in sung diction articulates the original text. As the recitation occurs, viewers can follow along with a scrolling display that includes the original text, a word-for-word English translation, and a phonetic or IPA transcription. Each guide is accompanied by a downloadable PDF for ease of reference.

The textual content is presented in multiple formats, offering a poetic reading as well as a slower recitation. Recent editions have introduced a hybrid option that alternates between poetic and slow readings on a line-by-line basis. BabelGuides™ can be accessed for entire works or selected individual movements, catering to varying needs within vocal training.
